A quick card tutorial

Hello everyone,

Today I wanted to share a quick and easy card tutorial. I have a friend who is having a little girl and wanted to have this card ready for when the time came. :)

So lets begin!

First, I selected my supplies. A mix of pinks and hearts since she is having a little girl.

I love using the wood veneer embellishments natural but today I wanted to do something different with them. So I broke out my new favorite Mr Huey (Boss Lady) and gave them a good spritz.

Now I waited a bit to let them dry. If you have an embossing gun that would make this step faster. I was feeling lazy and didn't go dig for it. I just went and had a cup of coffee while I waited. :)

Next I made my card base. To do this I take a sheet of 8.5x11 cardstock and cut it in half the long way. I then have two sheets of paper that are 4.25x11. I took one of those and score it at the 5.5'' mark where I want my fold. This will be the top of my card.

After I have my card folded I lay my (dry) hearts down where I think I want them. Then I take my stamp and place it where I believe I want it to go. This gives me an opportunity to change things before I stamp it in ink.

Now I ink up my stamp. I first place it on the block then ink it up by tapping my ink pad onto the stamp. I make sure the ink is even. Then I am ready to stamp it.

I cleared off the blank card and stamped the cardstock using the grid lines on my block to align the stamp.

Next I cut my pattern paper to size. I wanted a strip for the top and the bottom. So I cut them at 4.25 to match the width of my card.

After I get the in place I feel it is missing some detail and decided to use a scallop punch for some detailing on the edges.

There we go. Much better.

After I get these all laid and taped down I think that I would like some more contrast to the card since the black of the banner is so striking. So I added a tiny strip of blue dots to the top and bottom of the card.

The very last strip is some ribbon. I wanted to add this a bit off center since the rest of the elements are all centered. I think it adds a nice soft touch.

And now we have a finished card that I am sure my friend will love.

Thanks for coming by today!
